Marlene Assell Scholarship Program

I've learned by going where I am inspired to go.

The Marlene Assell Scholarship Program is named after my late sister Marlene who shared my vision.  The inspiration for the program is born out of the fire and determination that comes from having a deep passion and commitment for something that is of value. Girl's education is that value for me. It is the one vehicle that can transform ignorance, intolerance, poverty, and hatred to create a new paradigm in a place that has little or no listening.

  • 114 Form 4 graduates.
  • image11 Vocational school graduates in fields ranging from secretary to pipe fitter.
  • 2 girls qualified to apply for University this year (have completed Forms 5 and 6).
  • 3 girls in Nursing School
  • 7 girls graduating from Teacher College. There is a vast shortage of teachers in Tanzania, thus this is a huge contribution.
  • Dedicated 3 hostels that house over 150 girls with 4 more planned or in progress.
  • Delivered the second Leadership Workshop to 20 girls.

Education is changing the world, one girl at at time.
